Assess what an observation supports before using it to make a decision. Follow practical approaches to provenance, confidence, environment differences, historical context, and the limits of external signals.

Keep uncertainty useful

Record what you saw before describing what you think it means. An evidence date identifies the observation; it does not automatically identify an installation date or the current state of every environment. Preserve the source and the context needed to review the claim.

Compare evidence with the question it is meant to answer. An inventory maintained by an application owner and a technology clue visible on a public page have different strengths. These guides help connect provenance, identity, and inference so a team can act on supported conclusions and leave unresolved claims open.
